Disaster Relief Trips

Disaster Relief Trips: Hurricane Dorian

  1. We will be flying volunteers to Grand Cay and Freeport between now and the end of November.  
  2. The cost is a suggested donation of $300 per person. 
  3. While you are in Grand Cay or Freeport, you will be helping with the rebuilding efforts. Every type of skill is needed, including cleaning, interior work, framing, and roofing. We can find something for everyone to do.
  4. On Grand Cay, you will be staying on the Motor Vessel Pacific Hope while you are there. It is a 118-foot ship that has full accommodations including clean beds, bathrooms, showers, an onboard chef and delicious meals. All of your basic needs such as food and water will be covered.  You can find out more about the ship you will be staying on here:  https://www.mvpacifichope.org/
  5. In Freeport, you will be staying at a local church on air mattresses. Bathrooms, food, water all full accommodations are provided.
  6. Grand Cay trips depart Friday mornings and returning Sunday afternoons. 
  7. Freeport trips depart Saturday mornings and return Monday afternoons.
About the Planes
  1. We have a couple of planes we fly. Both are in excellent maintenance and very airworthy. One is a Cessna 172 and the other is a High-Performance Piper Cherokee. 
  2. We fly two people at a time plus luggage.
How We Travel
  1. We take off from Treasure Coast International in Fort Pierce.
  2. The flight is approximately 1 hour.
  3. When going to Grand Cay, we land on Walkers Cay and a boat takes us on a 6-mile ride to Little Grand Cay.  This ride is not on the open ocean, it is over the typically calm waters of the Little Bahama Bank.
  4. When going to Freeport, we fly into Freeport International Airport.
What You Will Need
  1. Clothes for the number of days you will stay.
  2. Towel and Toiletries.
  3. Personal snacks.
  4. Bible and notepad (we will have evening get-togethers with a Bible Study each evening on the ship).
  5. Your hand tools (tool belt, hammer, tape measure, pliers).
  6. Water bottle.
  7. Everything must pack into a 20lb soft-sided bag.
You must have a valid US passport to attend these trips.
