Devotion: Spiritual Power

Do not strive in your own strength; cast yourself at the feet of the Lord Jesus, and wait upon Him in the sure confidence that He is with you, and works in you. Strive in prayer; let faith fill your heart-so will you be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.  -- Andrew Murray

Heart Prep: Read Ephesians 3:14-19

  • Name 3 things Paul prayed for the Christians in Ephesus:

    • 1.
    • 2.
    • 3.
  • Are these things prevalent in your life?

  • Take a moment to pray God will these three things.

  • Now take a moment to ask God to provision these three things for the team you are serving with on Cat Island this week.

Deep Dive: Verse 16

  • According to His glory.  Why is God’s glory an important part of this request?

  • Strength with Power.  What type of power?  The text says “power through his Spirit”.  What is the difference between “spiritual power” and “physical power”?

  • Verse 18: What is the breadth, length, height and depth of Christ’s love?  Did you know there is an answer, and that you can know it?  Take time to pray and ask God to reveal this to you specifically.

When a man has no strength, if he leans on God, he becomes powerful. -- DL Moody

So many times we say that we can't serve God because we aren't whatever is needed. We're not talented enough or smart enough or whatever. But if you are in covenant with Jesus Christ, He is responsible for covering your weaknesses, for being your strength. He will give you His abilities for your disabilities! -- Kay Arthur

Application:

  • It is the midpoint of the week.  Take a few moments to reflect on what God is doing in your life.

  • What would you like Christ to do in you before you leave this week?  Take time to talk with Him about it.
