A Great Love Life

How is your love life?

“The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go God’s  love for us does not.” — CS Lewis

What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are. But that’s also why the world doesn’t recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he’s up to.  — 1 John 3:1

The world has some messed up ideas about love.  It’s a good thing Jesus rewrote the definition of love.  Check it out in Romans 5:7-9.

How would you define love the world’s way?

How would you define love Christ’s way?

Are you secure in your assurance that Jesus loves you?

READ: John 2:15-17

Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.” (THE MESSAGE)

What does it mean to “love the world’s way”?

What does the passage say the outcome of loving the world’s way will be?

READ: 1 John 2:4-6.  What’s the connection between LOVING God’s way and LIVING God’s way?

What are some misconceptions people have about Christian love?

READ: 2 John 1:4-6.  How does our LIFE of love impact others?

What would you change about the way you practice love for the Father and love for others?  Take time this morning to pray and ask God for Him to give you a new desire and ability to LOVE HIS WAY.
